I just post a msg saying we can file 485 if 140 is pending. But after reading some other posts, I realize that we can file it only if PD from the labor we are using is current. If we want to use PD from an old employers application, we need to have date ported on new i140 application before 485 can be applied.
Is that true? In that case, 140 from my new employer is not approved yet.....so i cud not be able to apply for 485 here :-(

People have started saying they would be happy to get GC in 5-10 years.

My husband was born in Switzerland, I was born in China. I borrowed my husband's nationality to submit 485 and 140 concurrently. from the replies above, my case should follow Switzerland, not China. Is that correct? Thanks.

Hello all,
Could someone who are recently travelled via London Heathrow, please let me know what all should be done in order to obtain the DATV visa?
My flight stops there for under 2 hours (for cleaning and refuelling), and I was told I need to get the DATV since my visa expired and my approved AP alone is not enough.
Though I have gone through the required websites, i would still appreciate info from any one who recently experienced getting the DATV and travelling via London. Do I need to send I-485 receipt notice original and EAD as well?
Or is it enought to send the online application, passport, photo and AP originals?
Is there anyway to do everything in person, including handing over documents?
Also, it would be great if you could let me know how long it took to get the visa and your documents back!
Any help is GREATLY appreciated!

Hi -
I just bought a nikon d50 kit and the dealer sold me sigma lens' with the kit. I have since upgraded the camera body to a d70S. Now I am having problems with the lens', autofocus doesnt work all the time. Sometimes it works...then other times it wont focus at all.
Does anyone know if the sigma 18-50mm and the 70-300mm af/mf lens' are compatable with the d70s?
The dealer told me the sigma lens were better then the nikor lens' because they have a metal mount whereas the mikor was a plastic mount. is this true and is this somethign i really should have worried about?

H-1B's are so-called "non-immigrant Visas" but we all know most of these
people end up staying here -)
Of course the staffer did not pick up his phone - but the staffer's name is
Landon Bell. Why not ring up Senator Corn-Hole's office and ask for Landon
Bell, and ring Landon's bell a bit?

Senator Pete Domenici's office (Republican) and Senator Jeff Bingaman's
office (Democrat) -- both of New Mexico. But both of their offices claim
that Skil Bill "Access to High Skilled Foreign Workers" S 2691 has NOT left
committee yet and thus cannot be voted on yet. (It is certainly possible
that you all have different or better information than was conveyed to me
but this is what I obtained.)
Domenici's office staff person couldn't tell me which side of the fence he
was on as he hasn't "made a press release" yet. And, as long as it is in
committee he apparently doesn't voice an opinion.
Senator Bingaman's office staff also told me that he had not expressed an
opinion to him on his position on the bill. The young, female staff woman
who answered the DC phone seemed STUNNED when she pulled up the bill and
started to read parts of it. She thought they'd have to take some kind of
special test to get into the USA for these jobs -- no. I only wish she
were casting a vote as I know how she'd vote! Again, she told me that
the bill was not out of committee YET and the Senators are going home
tomorrow afternoon. They are doing "yesterday morning's" work tonight or
some such backward thinking. There has been no floor debate on the bill so
the staff claimed would mean there will NOT be a vote on the bill tonight.
No one would guarantee me that NO voting would take place tomorrow but did
say it was UNlikely.
Finally, when I got to the staff woman in DC she was a bit surprised
because someone had called her on the bill from one of the Senator's New
Mexico offices. (A bit strange unless it was my calling the Senator's 800
number which connected me some place in New Mexico and they called the DC
office for information regarding my inquiry.)
(BE careful when you call, however, one Bingaman's staff males that I
spoke with tried to give me the WRONG Senate Bill number reference. He
asked "This is Senate Bill 2626?" I said "The one I am calling on is
"Senate Bill 2691 "Access to High Skilled Foreign Workers" so unless the
bill has been reassigned a number that I don't know about -- I am calling
on the Skil Bill "Access to High Skilled Foreign Workers.")

I think all the issue will be resolved if number 5 is done. No need for H1 extension, and even there is a in efficiency in USCIS you can get gc within 3 years if they double or triple EB quota. So no need to meet President just meet Congressmen and try pressing them to increase EB quota.
Can we get an appointment with the President and explain the problems faced by EB immigrants....
1. Travel restrictions (no travel during H1 extension etc..)
2. Driver license issues
3. Wasted Visa numbers
4. Inefficiency of USCIS
5. Need to increase EB quota
I know that law makers should make these changes, but President has a strong voice and if he hears our pathetic position, he may do something, just a hope :rolleyes:

Seems like NVARS has introduced a new process which is supposed to be more streamlined for getting appointment online but I am not sure of some of it's verbage.
We want to ensure that applicants already in the scheduling process are not negatively impacted by the change. In order to ensure you receive the visa services you have paid for, please review the guidance below regarding transition timetables.
* Applicants who have already scheduled an appointment at a U.S. consulate on or after September 1, 2010 through NVARS:
If you have already scheduled to attend an appointment through NVARS, please pay your MRV fee prior to September 1, 2010 and bring your Scotiabank receipt with you to your appointment. If you have not already scheduled an appointment, we recommend that you wait until September 1, 2010 or later to pay the MRV fee and register through the new service.
I highlighted the text in bold. My appointment is scheduled for Vancouver on Sept 8. What does this mean to me? Will I need to be physically in Canada prior to September 1, to be able to go to a Scotia bank and make payment there? This is insane. I still haven't gotten my canadian visa stamped on my passport so I can enter Canada.
Anyone aware of this or impacted by this?

Since we got conflicting/confusing answers we went to San Diego, parked our car at the border, walked across the border and walked back in with a new I-94. It was an easy process and took about an hour.
