Some where I read that there is no fee for renewal of AP. I am a Jul 07 filer and am not sure about this. Further already applied last for Advance parole and travelled till it got expired last month. I am applying for a new one again. So just wanted to know if I need to pay the fees $305.
So my questions are:
Does the July 07 filers need to send the cheque for $305
Should we also include Biometric fee of $80?
And how much time is it taking these days for AP/

There is a confusion regarding who pays what amount.

If you paid less than $400 ( I do not remeber the exact I-485 fees prior to the increase), then you need to pay for the Ap and EAD, the respective amount. If you paid more than $900 for your I-485 filing, then go file AP and EAD as much as you want.
For either case, you do not have to pay for the biometric. Biometric is only for EAD. Not for AP.
AP takes roughly 45 days.

Hi Guys,
In the instructions to file EAD they say to print name and alien receipt number on the back of the photos.
What number should we write? I-485 receipt number or receipt number for last EAD?
Can someone please respond?

Hi, Last August 07, I have applied for 140 & 485 and have a priority date of Feb 2005. I got married in July 08. Now, I can't apply 485 for my spouse as dates are not current. My 140 got approved. I am just worried that My 485 might get approved before I could apply 485 for my spouse. And no one knows when 485 date will be current again. Any ideas? Any one is in my situation?

USCIS has already enacted a regulation that allows the Service Centers to issue multiple-year EAD. However, this regulation has not been implemented by the USCIS because of its impact on the USCIS revenue. The Ombudsman wrote on March 20, 2006 his recommendation to Dr. Emilio Gonzalez, Director of USCIS to implement this regulation on the ground that multiple-year EADs would substantially reduce the USCIS immigration benefits workloads and that if impact on the revenue was the hangup for the failure to implement the published regulation which is a binding rule, the USCIS might consider raising the EAD application filing fees. Multiple-year EAD will relieve the customers from substantial inconvenience and hassle each year. The statistics also strongly support the Ombudsman's statement that issuance of multiple-year EAD would reduce substantially the USCIS workload. For instance, the February 2006 monthly immigration statistical report indicates that the total receipts of entire applications and petitions numbered 409,893, out of which EAD applications numbered 100,051, during one month in January 2006. It means one-fourth of total immigrantion benefits applications and petitions were taken by the EAD applications! This reporter strongly and without any reservations supports the Ombudsman's recommendation and justification! This reporter urges Dr. Gonzalez to implement the regulation as soon as possible.
The CIS Ombudsman also recommends the USCIS to issue EAD valid as of the date of the current EAD expiration rather than the date of approval. Current practice has raised pains and aches to the I-485 waiters in two areas: Potential gap between the date of expiration of current EAD and the date of approval of extension of EAD, and loss of some period of existing EAD when the EAD renewal is issued a few months earlier than the expiration date of the current EAD. I am currently working for a company at Chicago,IL on OPT (Optional Practical Training) period which is of one year. I have graduated as Electical Engineer from NJIT,NJ this year and is authorized to work during the OPT. Unfortunately the OPT is ending on 11th February, 2007.
I applied for H1B through the same company at Chicago but missed it as the CAP was closed by 28th August, 2006. Hence, I am currently working on the OPT work authorization.
I am aware that I will be out of status after February 11th at the end of my OPT tenure. I am planning to re-apply for H1 with the same company again well in time next year. As I will be out of status until I get my H1B application accepted and approved possibly by October'07, what are the best options available for me to legally stay here in USA with a valid status during the period until October 2007. Time is short and I needed to work out some thing quick.
I shall be grateful to any one who could send in your valuable advise.

Mostly they do not ask you 797 if you have valid stamping. You need to show new original 797 only if you have extended one, so that they will issue i-94 till end of your extension, otherwise your i94 will have expiry date (of stamping in passport ) as your end date of I-94.

WOW I'm sorry to hear this, I was on the same boat so I can understand. There's nothing you can do. Your employer or attorney can try to contact DOL. I filed May 07 as well, they audited and after replying nothing happened for a very long time. And then out of the blue they approved March of 08. My attorney said there's nothing we can do other than wait as they were auditing left and right, specially EB2. Eventhough my attorney send letters requesting updates they never responded.
I guess I was extremly lucky to finally get approved.

hello all,
i filed my application on july 2nd to nebraska service center. Now i am filing my wife' application using the new updated 485 form. i sent my application to nebraska service center. i live in florida and in the new form i have noticed that they are asking people from florida to send 485 application to texas service center.
i am confused as to where i should send my application. i am attaching a sheet which asks mailroom to attach my wife's new application to already filed my application ( sent on 2nd july with no recepit ).. i am just confused that if i send my application to texas will it get attached to my primary already filed application... any one in same situation or any insite please help.

No you don't have to wait for your 3 year extension to return to US. Your lawyers and company are basically trying to get your three year extension so that you can get a 3 year visa stamped in your passport. But there's nothing stopping you from returning to US at any time on your current H1b.
For your second question - no you don't have to be present in the US to file for the extension .

Hi All,
I would like to ask if it is possible, and how long does it take if so, for
my parents who live in India to visit me in the UK, then we all apply
for tourist visas for my brother's marriage in the US.
I have indefinite leave to remain in the UK but am not a citizen yet.
The earlies times for appointment for an interview for my parents
in India is 4 months! whereas my brother will be getting married in 3...
Is it possible for them to get the tourist visa for US from here in the UK?

After the stab at Sony that Canon made in the press release stating they were releasing ~ 20 cameras this year, you don't think they'd let Sony get that far ahead, do you? :p
In my opinion, one of the more intriguing product announcements from Nikon today was the Coolpix 8700. If it improves significantly from the Sony, that could be a killer product. Right now, Canon is lacking a bit in the true consumer DSLR market. But then again, PMA is right around the corner. The image above is a very nice, serene capture. But the one that really stands out for me is the fern (below). First you saw the shot. Most wouldn't. Then you used good DoF, a good composition, and exposure control to capture the fern without blowing it out but give us enough of the shadow to keep the fern in context. Without the shadow detail, the fern would look out of place. Nice work.
Maybe you didn't get as many keepers as you wanted, but it sounds like you learned some things and you did get a couple of keepers so it was a profitable trip in my estimation. I think we've all been at that "wish I'd used my tripod" spot. It's really irritating if you own one and don't use it and flat out maddening if you take it along with you on a shoot and don't bother to use it. The part that makes you spit nails is there's only one person to blame. . . I'm betting that tripod gets a workout the next time you wander into the woods.
