Ok. My bad. I was using lame duck as an example. I'm not hoping anything on the lame duck session.
My question is/was, how long it takes for a bill(passed) to be effective. Is there a timeline within which President has to sign it? Once he signs it how long does it take become effective?
PS: I was guessing, I'm not sure of the 90 days time period.

I agree--make your own decision for your peace of mind. Under W2, you're an employee and your employer does the taxes. On 1099, you're self-employed and you do the taxes, and also deduct business expenses. However, being on W2 does *not* mean that you've a job for unlimited period of time. A lot of recruiters for contract jobs (e.g., a 3-month contract) give you the option of joining under W2 or 1099.--e.g., $70/hr on 1099 or $60/hr or W2. Being on W2 should *not* be construed as being on a "permanent" job.
At the end of the day, it's all a question of your peace of mind. You can take this 6-month contract on W2 and take comfort in your (wrong) thinking that you're on a "permanent" job, or you can take that contract on 1099 and (wrongly) worry that you're on a "temporary thing."

I had similar situation with my close friend here.
I was with him when he underwent the surgery, Once Doctor came out of surgury he told me (as I was the only one there and his family was in India) that my friend just had 6 months to live, But later found out that was treatable through chemo and radiation..This was almost 4 years ago, My friend is totally recovered and he got the GC year back and he is working in Mid-west.
So don't lose hope in GOD.

Do you have any numbers for advocacy effort participation in terms of EB2 vs EB3 ? You and some EB2 members on this forum seems to be suggesting that they are getting GCs faster because you they did some outstanding effort in terms of IV advocacy effort. Would you mind sharing some evidence in case you have some ?
I didn't see EB2 guys overcrowding that event. There were well meaning, sincere members from both EB2 as well EB3.
Please stop lecturing EB3 guys. If pappu or someone from leadership want to lecture us, it is fine. Not every jack and jill on this forum should lecture us.

My observation was based on the thread that we had for collecting the amount..I didn't see many EB3 folks contribute dollars....but now that 2 EB3 are vouching that enough EB3 folks contibuted, that's great. I just observed something and if it hurt you right down the spine, sorry. I filed PERM 3 months ago, I'm far off in this process. Just focus on advocay so that everyone gets their GCs. Good luck. I hate this EB2 vs EB3, this is a never ending debate. Just hope everyone gets their GC in time.

I got finger print notice on 6-16-07.
I never got receipt notice and I could not read the number in back of my check image. My attorney even did not get any receipt notice either:confused:
The finger print is scheduled for July 7th. I sent all app. to NCS on the June first and they transferred to TCS. PD of Sep 2003 and I-140 was approved 2005. I also apply for travel doc. and work permit but no receipt so far.:rolleyes:

I called customer service yeasterday and the response is that they were processing June22 cases and they would get to July 2 in 2-3 weeks.

at some month before OCT 2007 the dates would become unavailable.
what would happen at that time?
say your case was received by USCIS and they have not issued FP notices.
what if they issued FP notices but not issued EAD and/or AP.
would they still issue an EAD and AP even if your dates are not current(obviously the case was received by them and they issued you a case number)

I can read and feel the anger and frustration. But I have seen this every time a retrogressed visa bulletin was released in last ten years. Appeals for unity and and urgent need for action. However, it turned out to be a storm in a tea cup. Hope its gonna be different this time.

Suppose he has a priority date of 08, his dependents will have to wait for at least 4 years according to the current bulletin for Family 2A. Am I missing something here?

Looks like they are processing EAD and AP (in the mail room itself:) ) along with receipts. No point in touching the same application twice or thrice. If you get a receipt then you should also get EAD and AP:):).
It's very frustrating.. TSC is sitting on our application or what? Approx 30K application are there for July 2nd filer including NSC->TSC transfer(per old NYT report). We see reporting of 1 or 2 receipting a day then few quite days. :mad::mad::mad:
It will approx 60 days since filing and still waiting for Receipt. What a heck..

I think we should write in only one thread about this VB mess until it is over. New users like me are getting hard time to find out the latest development of the VB issue. Either we should start a new thread or stick with only one. regardless of the subjetc/issue, we should post all our message into one single thread so that every one is on the same page.

Another suggestion is that porting should be automatic. As soon as a person acquires the required qualification for EB2 + a letter from the company that the person's future job will be of EB2 caliber, UCSIS should put him/her in EB2 category. This is some thing we should work on.
Most of us are analyst by profession. Maybe that is one of the reasons most of us are always engaged in analysis and optimization of the system, to suit our own individual application. All of us believe that the system which suits our individual application is the best system. Anything that doesn't work for us is just screwed-up. Every person is at a different stage so most of the people are always fighting with each other.
This is some thing we should work on.

No problem...I think fax can be a strong messages since it is a hard copy and it has greater chances to get read quicker than e-mails.. Please take some time and fax them. Fax takes a minute to send if the line is not busy. Keep trying and fax them.
