I've seen people getting the GC Approvals even though their PD is not current. But close to current published dates.

I am on H1B visa. My visa expires in April 2010. I was arrested in New York for a misdemeanor charge which was subsequently dismissed by the court. There was no guilty plea etc so under immigration law too I DO NOT have a conviction. I have all the final court docs. I am travelling to India to renew my H1B visa. I have a few questions -
(i) Is there a possibility that I am selected for 221 g screening? How long does the 221 g screen take?
(ii) Since I have a valid visa am I allowed to enter the US while they are completing the process? I have left the country before and entered on my current visa. I was sent for additional screening at the airport but had no issues since I have all the court documents.
Any insights would be appreciated

You do not need new visas. At port of entry show the new approval notice to get I-94 for the duration of the new approval notice.
My husband is in H1B visa and he transfered his visa to another company. Got the I-797 approvals too. Along with that mine and my kids H4 also got approved.
Now I am urgently required to travel to India, and want to return from India without going for stamping. Here are other details.
1) Even my previous H4 visa is not expired while I return from India.
2) I have the new H4 approval notices and copy of husbands new H1s I797 with me.
Will it be an issue if I reenter without stamping. Our plan is to go for Visa stamping to any nearby consulate in US border after I come back. Please advise.

Some news are saying the Senator and the House are about to introduce seperate immigration bills. Do we still have any chances this year? Should it be easier to pass a seperate bill that may be more or less favorable to our legal immigrants?

What if the validity date of H1 is before the validity date of F1. In other words if the validity date of H1 is 10/1/2009 to 9/30/2012 and the validity date of F1 is 12/15/2009 to D/s but the approval date of F1 is on 7th Jan 2010 and the approval date of H1 is on 14th jan 2010.

You can apply for multiple H1B at the same time. No need to pay Company but they will aks you to join once H1B gets approved. so at that point you need to decide which one is better for you. You can work for both of them if one of them is ready to offer you part time work. Please Get attorney advice on that part.

The third party app simply means, use another software that can do stuff Swift3D was not made for.
So you have in there basically all the major 3D packages like Maya, 3D Studio Max, Lightwave, TrueSpace, Infini-di and so on.. Of course you have to export in formats Swift3D can handle.. but most of these apps have filters for that, and if they don't, there are patches out there that allow it.
The downside is that all of these apps are a lot more expensive than Swift3D. So be sure to decide how deep you will go into the wonderful world of 3D modelling and adjust your budget to that. Some packages are in excess of $4000 sometimes a lot more than that...
but.. others are under $500.. (good enough for most users) still, a lot more than the $150 you spend on an app like Swift3D or Flash.. Bear in mind, even though Swift3D is a standalone app, it acts more like a step in between, almost like a plugin for these big time 3D apps.

Will IV assist in legal non employment based GC application?
or is IV only active in employment based GC issues?

I am in the same situation . The responses from the lawyer are Incorrect .I spoke to my companies attorney and they advised me to apply the H4 extension in Premium and then go with the new H1 in regular so that your H4 ext will be approved first and able to maintain the status until Oct 07

First of all, congrats to everyone in the final stages of this tedious and frustrating process.
I have a question for people who filed I-140 and I-485 concurrently and got their receipt numbers.
I have gotten receipt numbers for my concurrently filed I-485 and I-765 as I paid for them (PD April 2003, I-140/I-485 filed at NSC). I do not have receipt for I-140 after more than 2 weeks. My employer is not giving me receipt number for I-140 as he may be wanting more money from me. Now, I have read in a forum that I-140 when applied concurrently should have receipt number very close to I-485 receipt number and normally I-140 receipt number is less than I-485 receipt number (i.e. if I-485's last four digits are 4600 then last 4 for I-140 number will be lower than 4600 and close to it. So, in theory I can scan numbers prior to mine and find closer ones for the same date and track them.
If you can please check your numbers and tell me if your I-140 number is before your I-485 number and how close they are to each other, I would really appreciate it.

yes - I think the only difference is that you cannot use the approved AP to come in.
If you use H1B to enter u shd be ok... dont try to come in with the AP

yes, you can. also, you could go to stamping even with expired visa. eitherway it doesn't matter. because at the start of your H1B interview they cancel your old H1B stamp.
