I figured they were talking about network traffic as well. Where would they get the road traffic information from users? I'd like to see a quality turn-by-turn navigation feature become a standard offering and improved traffic info would be a nice plus.
I didn't interpret it as network traffic. What would be the purpose of "a crowd sourced traffic service"? If the goal is to provide "an improved traffic service", how does that relate to network traffic? Tell Apple which hotspots are overloaded? With what end goal?
On the other hand, I don't know how Apple could be accurately collecting vehicle traffic data without pinpointing the location of your iPhone (e.g. on a local highway) so I guess there's room for interpretation.
As for turn-by-turn GPS, I just bought Navigon and I'm quite pleased with it so far.

... I also hope they include built in anti-virus and anti-spyware. I know there isn't much of either for the Mac but it would be great for marketing and the day when something bad does appear.
Actually, I think the fact that they don't even have a need for those things yet is much more of a selling point than if they were built in. The selling point is that OS X is secure right out of the box with the built in firewall and what not.

Why does Lee continue to bury his head in the sand and ignore the FACTS that conservatives give FAR more money, time, blood to charity than liberals do. They also give a higher percentage of their own wealth to charity. Since you don't cite any source, I can only take a guess, but if you're making $150k a year, maybe you can afford to give more money than someone who's scraping by on $24,000 a year?

Schools always have police around so it could easily be taken away but why would a school have the right to take something away. I never had this problem in college but in high school they tried to take my iPhone and I wouldn't let them. I said they have no right to take it, they called the police down to the class I was in but by the time they arrived the school days just barely ended. Everything turned out ok.
For you it turned out fine... That time... If you are asked to give it up, be reasonable and ask if you may retrieve it at the end of the day. If you put up a fight they may think you are up to something and it can get worse. The OP stated he did nothing wrong, so just give it up until the end of the day and then simply take it home. Pick your battles wisely. If you want to change that policy, do it the right way.

CNN made it sound like it could be done with all ipods....
CNN are Mac users too, so it's slightly suprising (they use iChat for video conferencing AFAIK) and the web browser CNN use in weather/tech ad's is Safari (or was last summer when i last watched CNN.).

As a developer, I don’t care if it has a cellular radio or not... so iPad and iPod need to be counted too, unless you’re studying carriers alone.

I haven't seen anything, but I could have missed it. January 30th is a Tuesday, so it is possible an event could be held that day.

Why patent something if you have no intent of developing? It hinders progress.
It's called licensing. You create/think of a really neat/innovative way of doing something yet you don't have tons of money (or ambition) to actually turn it into a product, market it, sell it, support it, etc.
Lots of patents are created so that the owner can sell/license the patent to vendors/manufacturers/companies who want to use it.

That's not how steam works. When you purchase something through steam, you can download and install it as many times as you want. If your computer crashes, all you have to do is reinstall steam log into your account and redownload it. This is one of the reasons why steam is so popular.
as far as the price. $50 for games is standard, especially for pc ( and I guess now mac ). It costs millions of dollars to make and promote a game. Most games for consoles are $60 and there PC counterpart are $50 because both microsoft and sony take $10 off each sale. If you are concerned with the length of the game, go read a few reviews and they will all tell you the game is much much longer then the original, plus it includes a co-op mode with different levels. $50 seems pretty good to me.
Also, it's supply/demand. Millions of people are going to go out and spend $50 on the game, so why not sell it at $50? The nice thing about steam is, if you can find it cheaper elsewhere, you can still install it on your PC/Mac and play it through steam. But a lot of people are willing to pay the $5 extra to get the convenience of not needing to ship or wait in a line to buy the game.
the streaming distribution of the game is much cheaper then phyiscal copy distribution. I just saying they can add an incentive to make people download it, and they make more MONEY. Which is a given they are making alot more per digital copy sold compared to phyiscal copy sold. Especially as the title gets older and retailer take more on each sale.

It's not just Rosetta. Office on my G4 opens in about half the time it used to on previous versions of 10.4
First open takes about 4 bounces to the Project Gallery, subsequent openings are maybe 2 bounces. Much quicker than before.
