Issue is getting to Canada and staying there long enough with the high taxes they have average canadian tax burden is 40% (30% tax + 10% additional sales tax on everything you buy) !
I know how meaningless this "Backup" is after paying almost 50K$ over past few yrs.!

OPT valid 4/1/2008-3/31/2009.
I am gonna send application for H-1b on 4/1/2009.
If H-1b approved in April or May 2009.

What if the case is where I want to take up a new full time position and convert my current full time position to part time.....I guess one way to do it would be to transfer H1 to the new employer...wait for an approval and then file for another concurrent H1 for the part time job with the old company..But the problem is I'd have to wait until new approval comes...and also convince both companies to shell out 2k plus in filing fees....does any one have a better alternative ? I received a duplicate order from Hewlett-Packard. Per the customer service person I was instructed to remove the shipping label and write the return number on the box, then call Fed Ex for a pickup, all of which I did. Now, a few weeks later my credit card account has not been credited. I've called the customer service people several times, and received a transmitting tracking number for the return. I've called Fed Ex who say what I have is not adequate to track the item supposedly sitting at their warehouse. I've spoken to the supervisor at HP, and she, like everyone else, keeps referring my problem to the "return specialist", who is supposed to query Fed Ex about this, but nothing happens. Their excuse is that they don't have the actual tracking number to do this. One HP rep I spoke to told me that the return item had not been scanned since the initiation of the return, implying negligence. Yeah somebody dropped the ball. Where do I go next to get some action taken?

Did company B file the ammended 140 with immigration,if yes what happened to it.You could upgrade ths to premium processing and get an answer in 15 days.If approved I feel you would be safe.

0. Keep docs ready for MTR and once you receive the response from INS you should able to reply immed.
Without denial notice, I am not sure what kind of documents are required for MTR response. This I-140 was denied even without any RFE. There is no clue to guess the reason for denial.

Just for folks who aren't aware - there are 500,000 high skilled legal immigrant already in USA who are waiting in queue for numbers of years to get their Permanent Residency. Thanks to the limited visa availability based on country chargeability (birth of applicant) and inefficiency of immigration system, these highly skilled, tax paying and law abiding immgrants are waiting for their Green Card (Permanent residency). Some of them have studied here, worked here for years and US is almost a second home to them. They are sitting on pile of cash, Yes - PILE OF HARD CASH. They wouldn't buy house or any big ticket items until they get Green card. Why not give these people, who are already part of our system, conditional Permanent Residency who buy houses. I am wondering if anybody had done this before: I want to work part time (20 hrs/week) for 6 months( and no other job). I am on H1 but I also have EAD. So I am wondering if there are any implications to this such as I need to amend my H1b , because of some obscure law my GC process will be affected. Any input is appreciated.

I had a friend in the same situation. Had H1 and EAD. He worked halftime for two years to finish his MBA. Now went back to fulltime H1. I think your company has to approve it and yes he filed ammendment.

I changed my job recently, I'm starting up with new GC application with my new employer as I had passed only 140 stage with my previous GC application of employer and I couldn't get a chance to file my 485. I have 12 plus years of total IT experience. My question is related to the section in the PERM application for my major field of study. I have a Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from good university in India , finished in 1996. My academics and work experience were assessed with US equivalent study and it's evaluated as Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems by qualified and expertized education evaluator. My current company lawyer told me that he would mention it as Computer Information Systems in my PERM application. Is it correct to mention in my perm application for my major field of study as Computer Information Systems?

As far as I know since you have already been counted towards the cap once because of H1b approval for Company A(nonymous), you can get another non excempt H1b again in the next 6 years.
Dont you feel that you may be abusing the H1b by doing this? Anyways, like its always suggested, talk to an attorney.
I have a approved H1b from company A. Company A also shared a copy of approval. I was never counted under H1b cap before this approval. If I now decide not to join company A and assuming company A will not cancel H1b, can I use this H1b to join another company B later using H1b transfer…???? I am presently on cap except H1b and need a cap subject H1b in order to move to any private firm. So approval from company A matters a lot to me.
