i am switching employers and i have about 10k in my 401k with current employer. my next employer does not have the option to start 401k until after one year of service.i am looking for options to rollover my 401k to a IRA in a company. does anyone have any recommendations?thanks in advance
I still have my 401K from my old job that I quit about 3 yrs back into the same (company's) account. The reason I didn't roll them into IRA is that I prob would have made the same selection of mutual funds that I currently have in my 401K. The company is stable so no worries there. Point is, move your money only if you think it will serve you a better purpose or else wait for your new 401K to kick in and after that just roll over the other account directly into the new one...
Just my 2 cents, of course...

Unless the dependent is going to have his 140 filed under EB1 I am not sure it would help.
But to answer your question, I think it is ok to file. Check with your attorney before you do that though

If it is by and large the same business, their immigration lawyer will have to file some paperwork indicating the company has changed its structure and for the paperwork to be amend under the new name.

Hello,
I filed 485 in July 2007 and got the 485 receipt nos for myself and wife and my daughter. Both my wife and myself got EADs too. Though i applied EAD for my daughter [who is under 4 years at the time of application], i neither received EAD reciept nor the application back. I saw in some other threads that kids under 10years are not getting EADs. Is it true?
I know some may ask why we need EADs for kids? My daughter 's I-94 is expired on Oct 10th 2007 and i applied EAD for her in july just in case though she cant work.
Any ideas?

got few answers ... searching from other sites.
I-130 does play a role, when applying for visitors visa. but that doesnt disquialify anyone from getting visa. you have to show string ties to your country and provide enough evidence that you will come back. there are cases where they hv granted 10yrs multple visas !!
As long as you disclosed your sister's immigration intent in the paper work and sent the right paperwork, it shouldn't be a problem.

It is not an issue for people of Indian origin who are returning, of planning to return, back to India for whatever reason. They are the lucky (?) ones to have either a Indian passport or PIO card or OCI card so they are eligible to work on that basis.
But how about those who do not qualify for one of the above? There is an increasing number of foreigners working in India - how do they become eligible to work in India? Is there an equivalent of an H1B, or may be oneday GC & Citizenship?

How long does it take to get a new SSN issued? Any one applied recently?
I applied it on a Monday and visited the office again on Tuesday and got the number. The card came in mail in 7 days. State is MA.

Why don't you go and get the visa stamped in chennai consulate or wherever it is applicable to you.

For past few months I hear some noice on the web that USCIS may be changing its policy soon by discontinuing Concurrent filing and allowing people to file I485 If I140 is approved irrespetive of visa number availability. How far this is true, have any body got more details on this ?? :confused:

My company is using substituted labor for me and applying for 140 and 485. My original LC which was pending just got approved. But the physical documentation is not there.
But my company is saying that they will also apply for 140 for the original LC also. How is this possible? I'm confused. What will happen to the 485 (and the first 140) when they file second 140?

Please be careful. some days back some of my friends caught up with this substitute LC and lost money. Please be careful before investing any kind of money esp if it is for desi body shoppers. USCIS is taking strict major and many substitute LC are getting rejected. so be cautious

For what it's worth, I can totally understand why someone wouldn't want to use a DataGrid. The day that I happily use one will probably be the same day that all of my ambitions about life come to an end. I have I-140 approved(ABC company) and have 5 months left in my first 6 year cycle. I was laid off from the job. A New employer XYZ applied for my H1B extension based on I-140 approval and got approved for 3 years.But I was unable to join
XYZ due to family situation and moved back to India.
Questions/options:
1. Can a new employer apply for H1B extension based on my I-140 approval even though I am not in USA.? My I-140 has not been revoked or cancelled.

2.Can I claim the remaining time on my H1B approval(based on I-140) with company XYZ ?I have copy of the H1B approval but not sure if it has been revoked.
Please advice.

Hearings will go on for a while. Since it is already known that the public oppose amnesty, personally I will definitely forget CIR. It may return again next year, but remember that by then the Senate may have voted out a number of incumbents that voted pro CIR.
I think this will take patience. If one can wait and watch this unfold for the next 2-5 years without going crazy, then you may watch the passage of CIR during your lifetime.
