I was there in the rally with few other friends. Some friends have already got their greencards. Still, they were there to support the good cause.
Whenever I meet people in this area (especially Indians), they complain of not being able to switch jobs and the delay in green card and so on. There are thousands of greencards seekers in VA and MD area. I didn't see any of these folks who complained. They probably thought that someone else is anyway going to fight it out and they can sit back and enjoy the results without making any effort. It was a shameful thing that they did. Had these folks from VA and MD joined, there would have been over 10,000 participants.
Still, the rally was a huge success and wants to thank IV for making this happen.

Are you married and kids? You are doing online one right?
GMAT score alone is not the criteria but they are a bit liberal on the online version. Your recommendations matter and your experience, essay and previous education credentials matter too. I am not sure about the cut-off for KD but I started part-time and converted to KD when I moved out of Indiana. My GMAT score was either 620 or 630, which I thought was on the lower end of the curve. I started my M.B.A a year before I got married and found it much easier to manage my time then. But these days my wife keeps complaining that I spend way too much time studying rather then with her. Managing with kids is going to be even more tough but definitely not unmanageable. I have colleagues, in my M.B.A program who are married with 2-3 young kids, who have said that I made the right move by trying to complete my M.B.A before having kids.
My intent is to just let you know that it won't be a cake-walk but then online will allow you lot more flexibility and time than regular or part-time M.B.A. You do not need to worry about attending classes and getting struck in traffic, assuming you could find a good school close by.

I came to US through CompanyA on L1A Visa 4 months back. My L1A Visa is valid till Mar-09. I had applied for the H1B Visa when I was in India. I got the H1B Visa and now has a valid petition effective Oct-07.
I would like to know the following.
Can I join the Company B from Company A without going back to India after Oct-07?Shouldn't be a problem, but I need some clarifying

Is that mean if eb2 India will move, eb-3 ROW will become current? As eb-2 already used up its quota, and eb-1, eb2 eb4 and eb-5 ROW should go to eb-3 ROW becasue THE COUNTRY QUOTA FOR EB2 INDIA ALREADY USED UP.

Just an update..I quit the company and joined small consulting firm. Got the project, labor approved, h1b approved (filed in premium) and prewailing wage determination will be started from next week.damn, i should ve done this 4 yrs back. these guys r fast. Never join as fulltime employee if you dont have green card

I have seen IV grow from scratch & the progress is very impressive. We will get better response but we will not achieve any +ve results by calling people " beggars". I am sure, you said it out of frustation & may want Admin to delete your post, which has good intent but not so good language
Let us divide among ourselves & make 10 calls ( by each of us) to each individual, who has contributed in the past BUT has not signed for the monthly contribution..
I am quite sure, people, who contributed once will sign up once called by us.
My guess is .... we should be able to get 1000 contributing guys if we call these people.

I filed for 485 during July 2007. My 140 was already approved. Due to some problems I quit my employer in August 2007. My previous employer was a desi blood sucker. I was fed up & decided to quit after working for him for 3 years. I applied for H1 transfer with a new employer based on approved 140. I got H1 approval for another 3 years. Currently I am working for the new H1 sponsoring employer. I also received an EAD card based on pending 485 for one year. I didnt notify USICS of job change in July.
I applied for EAD extension this year. The application for EAD extension is pending. I got a following RFE on my 485:
Please state whether or not you are currently working for your I-140 petitioner.
You must submit a currently dated letter from you permanent employer, describing your present job duties & position in the organization, your proferred position (if different from your current one), the date you began employement & the offered salary & wage. if there is enough of a stink made over this, the law could be changed to get back the 'lost' numbers.... laws are there to cater to needs of the situation at hand anc can be changed. IV, AILA and the ombudsman are doing a great job in helping bring about a change in the law. even if congress decides to allow reclaiming of the numbers lost since 1992, there could be an end to this problem for the forseeable future until SKIL or another version of "the grand bargain" comes to the table.

May I suggest you some cost cutting measures especially in the difficult economic times?
1) Quit buying Starbucks coffee. It may be a small sacrifice but it adds up in the end. You can make your own coffee at home.

For whatever reason, rumors are flying all over the Internet that the end of H1B and EAD employment authorization is at hand. This is complete nonsense. The purported basis for these rumors is an amendment offered in the Senate (S. Amdt. 4319) to a tax bill previously passed by the House (HR 4213). As written, this proposal would prohibit companies from filing H1B petitions if the company has laid off any employees in the last year. It would also void all existing H petitions for a company if the company lays off personnel.
Let's put this in context. Microsoft decides to lay off some of its loading dock personnel because they want to outsource that work. Under this proposal, they would then have to terminate all of their H1B engineers. That simply doesn't pass the laugh test.
Like most of Grassley's proposals, this amendment is pure idiocy. I suppose that's what happens when your parents are siblings. This bill has absolutely no chance of ever becoming law. .
It is unwise to be too sure of one's own wisdom. Pandering to the client base will not help the clients, it will only help the service provider.

I understand your frustration, but the rules are the same for everybody, and if India sends more immigrants to the US then any other country, that\\\'s not the US Government\'s fault.
If there were not per country limits, Indians would consume all those EB visas visas leaving no chance to the applicants from other countries to immigrate to the US legally.
That is not true.. Let me explain.. I want to give you an example to illustrate what the issue is: Think of a grocery check out line and let us assume for a moment that there are seperate counters for Indians, Chinese, Phill, MEX, ROW. So there are 5 counters. What is happening right now is that the queque for Indians and chinese and other retrogressed countries is long and snakes thru the aisles and they have to wait hours before they can check out, whereas ROW applicants can check out in minutes.
So it is not like Indians, or other retrogressed countries will consume all EB visas, If there were no country quotas. it is just that the waiting time to get one will be equal for everyone, irrespective of country of birth. That is how it should be, since it is an employment based visa..
The logic of employment based visas is that it was created to give visas (GC) to the applicants that were most needed by the US Employers at any given time. If the most qualified applicants that US employers prefer happen to be phillipinoes or chinese or Indians, that would mean there are more of those nationals.
